Fringe sign in Alternate reality has Stoltz as Back to the Future star
In the Fringe episode "Peter", we see a flashback with two observers coming out of a movie theater showing Back To The Future. However, in the alternate universe, Marty McFly is played by Eric Stotz and not Michael J. Fox.
In one of the most amazing nerdy trivia Easter eggs so far in Fringe, it turns out that the role was originally cast with Stoltz, but after filming began he was replaced by Fox.

Back to the Future reboot? remake?
Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, the creators of the Harold & Kumar franchise and directors of upcoming American Reunion, have recently been quoted saying they’d like to remake Back to the Future.
Deadline broke the news of the deal but Moviehole got the quote out of the young filmmakers. Here’s Hurwitz:
We want Back to the Future, just come out and say it. That’s our favorite trilogy. We’re always having this conversation….
Scholssberg continues:
I wouldn’t want to do it now because people would be like, ‘Oh, there’s no way it will be as good as the original.’ But 30 years from now when Spielberg’s like 90 and those guys are kind of on their way out, and those movies just look really old because we’re watching movies that are old, literally in two dimensions or something, it would be great to have all these classics that you’re able to remake.

Bob Gale talks Back to the Future
Back to the Future is apparently going to be hitting its 27th anniversary this summer.
Back to the Future was written by Bob Gale and Bob Zemeckis.
From Bob Gale: "I love it, are you kidding me?," Gale says. "It's amazing enough to have a hit movie, ever, in yourcareer. To have one that has stood the test of time the way Back to the Future seems to have is absolutely amazing. And it's so gratifying. Everybody loves the story of someone who has a passion project that nobody wants to make, and everybody's still talking about it decades later."
Back to the Future received over 40 rejections before it was made, but Gale also says, "We'd never get anywhere with it today. We had a hard enough time getting Back to the Future made when we did. The thing that really got the movie made was that Bob Zemeckis had a hit film with Romancing the Stone, and then people were ready to be in business with him and make a movie he wanted to make. In the early days when we wrote the script, Steven Spielberg liked it, and (producer and former head of Fox) Joe Roth liked it. Everybody else didn't get it. The mix of genres we had in there, which is one of the things that makes the movie great, would be even harder to do today. Everybody wants things that fit into certain pigeonholes."

Mattel releasing hoverboard from Back to the Future
Finally
The year 2015 is coming up fast, and it seems like many of the future inovations seen in the future Hill Valley of Back to the Future: Part II have not come to pass
The movie-accurate 1:1 Hoverboard replica will ship for Christmas 2012, with limited preorder in March. Here is the official description from the Mattel press release:
Back to the Future Hover Board: Finally! This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually “hover” – check back in 2015 for that feature). We’ll be taking orders for it March 1 – March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012. Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. If we don’t receive the minimum orders, won’t go into production and customers will not be charged. The price will be announced later this month. (Note: Hover board does not work on water.)

Back to the Future will never die. Every few months something noteworthy pops up tied to Robert Zemeckis‘ time travel trilogy such was the theatrical re-release, Blu-rays and limited edition Nikes. Mere hours ago, rumors of a possible Broadway showeven began to circle. Now photos of a custom made, unbelievably detailed version of Hill Valley 2015 have surfaced online. They were created by Alex Jones, who can only be refered to as a Lego savant. He’s captured the entire square, down to every single store, person and more.

Bizarre ban on The Back to the Future
From Flavorwire comes a list of bizarre reasons countries ban movies. Among the list was China's ban on "Back to the Future"
Any movie featuring time travel, banned in China (2011)
We could probably fill up this whole list with weird things that China has forbidden in cinema, but what really takes the cake is their ban on “fantasy, time-travel, random compilations of mythical stories, bizarre plots, absurd techniques, even propagating feudal superstitions, fatalism and reincarnation, ambiguous moral lessons, and even a lack of positive thinking.” According to The Daily Mail, the Chinese government is concerned about the idea of film characters going back and rewriting history.
On the plus side, at least no one in China is forced to entertain the thought of what might happen if their future parents tried to seduce them. That tends to mess a person up.

Back to the Future honored with new film 'Great Scott'
It seems like just about everyone who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s considers themselves a fan of Robert Zemeckis‘ Back to the Future movies, and with good reason; that trilogy has held up surprisingly well over the years. But there’s being a fan, and then there’s being completely and utterly obsessed. Like, try-to-actually-become-Marty-McFly obsessed.
Directed by Phil Hawkins, the upcoming BTTF-inspired Great Scott will be about a young man who falls squarely into the latter category. More about the film after the jump.
MovieHole reports that Great Scott will focus on an unhappy working class teen in ’80s Manchester, England who develops a fixation on the 1985 sci-fi comedy classic and, along with it, a burning desire to leave behind his humdrum life and live out the adventures of his cinematic hero. It’s not clear how closely Great Scott will mirror Back to the Future, or whether it’ll mix in sci-fi elements like, y’know, time travel. But it sounds like a pretty inspired idea at any rate, and seems to come from the same place of love as films like Son of Rambow and Fanboys.
Hawkins is probably best remembered as one of the contestants on the short-lived Steven Spielberg-produced reality series On the Lot, which followed 16 aspiring filmmakers competing for a million-dollar development deal at DreamWorks. Though Hawkins was eliminated rather early on, he’s continued to work in film and television over the past several years and now has a number of shorts and a couple of features under his belt, including the Philip Pullman adaptation The Butterfly Tattoo and the comedy Being Sold.
